UNFINISHED STORIES When the sky is full of clouds, the mother nature draws cotton pictures smoothly on her blue canvas with her wind brush. She draws sometimes a house without a chimney among the mountains, sometimes a child with ambigiously smiling eyes, and sometimes a tailless cat ready to jump for its prey. I take my brush made of my eyelashes and draw the thing that do not exist in the picture and the sky I complete becomes a huge frameless painting. Then the wind blows, erasing the painting that have just been completed and begins to draw a new picture. Then I begin to complete the imperfections, until the clouds get tired and bored of playing with me.
Once upon a time again, a wind came suddenly and weeped away all the clouds while I was drawing pictures in the sky, and my feet were in the water on the beach. The mother nature was showing me a new picture when I bowed my neck like a child left with no toys. I noticed the pictures on the stones as the waves began to recede on my feet. It was impossible that I could not notice, they were so remarkable and so beautiful that I heard them whispering in my ear: “Hey human being, are you looking for a picture...? Look at me, there are everything that you look for in me” I sat on the seashore and began to watch the stones in the sea. The pictures on the stones were magnificent, but I had to complete the uncompleted parts as I did with my pictures in the clouds. I asked myself with excitement how could I complete the unfinished picture on the stones. What I felt at that moment was wonderful and full of exciting emotions. I collected the pictures left unfinished by the mother nature in my pockets, but neither my eye nor my heart got satisfied with the amount I have collected. An unlimited coast in length and sea stones in unlimited amount. Too many uncompleted pictures in the sea just before my eyes. I did not have the heart to step on them. I wish I could fly. I left my mind on the shore.
I filled a big pot with water in my workshop and put the stones in the water, then I watched the pictures on the stones again with different tones of colours, drawings and curles... All became able to speak and started to tell their own stories, they had lots of things to tell. Our long conversations began. I also have things to tell them, lots of stories. Then I started to draw my stories on the stones, every one of which lasted for hours, sometimes days. I combined the unfinished stories of the mother nature with my stories using brushes, paints and my dreams. When I finished the pictures I noticed that I was holding the most ancient pictures of the world in my hand. I got extremely excited indeed. They were begun to be drawn a million years ago, and I am bringing them back from the place where they were left unfinished and taking them maybe to the future. I was realizing this study that I have been making continuously for 8 years, formerly at the workshop in the garden of my house and only our guests and relatives knew about them. However in the last three years, I am continuing my paintings in my workshop located in the garden of our boutique holiday camp HavaSu Köy which is founded and managed together with my husband. I share my stones with my guests, and do workshops with everyone who wishes to share the unfinished stories with me. Among our guests visiting HavaSu Köy, are painters and teachers of fine arts. I got very surprised when they informed me about one aspect of my work which I was delighted to hear. They told me that they are witnessing such a work for the first time and that no such work was done before. I opened my first exhibition on May 2006, upon an invitation, at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul. My exhibitions will continue in the future... In the panels and conferences where I was invited for talking about “Creativeness”, the expressions in the face of the people when my speech was ended and the questions of them proves the correctness of the path I follow. And I feel the value that art has added in me. Since my first exhibition, the things that I heard especially from university students made me very happy. They said “ You have given us a third eye. We are now looking at the objects in the nature with a special attention.” These thoughts and feelings vaccinate the idea of protecting the nature into the minds and souls. When I started painting 8 years ago, it did not occure to me that my paintings would have such a function. At that time, I was just delighted and satisfied with only the enthusiasm of drawing the unfinished pictures of in the nature. Today it makes me feel proud to see that it has another function.
